BIO

For this project, I struggled to come up with a theme of evidence that truly spoke to me. When I thought about what in photography best fits the idea of showing evidence of something my mind instantly went to proof. Proof of ability or that something was done. This was the first theme I went with trying to show proof of athletic ability. Photography and video are used a lot, especially now, as proof for people to show their skill. Anyone can say they can do a backflip but no one truly believes it until they see it. So for the first theme, I wanted to capture this idea through photos of my friends and me doing what we can athletically.

Although I liked this theme, halfway through completing the project I really liked playing with the idea of evidence of the past. I wanted to follow a theme of showing things that have been and show evidence of things that have already happened. To portray this I used things like handprints and footprints as a sort of guide. Even though there is no real subject in the photo it contains information that gives the viewer an idea of what has happened in this location in the past.

Overall, other than struggling with nailing down a solid theme I enjoyed doing this project. Once I started working on the second theme I enjoyed playing around with ideas much more. If I were to change how I approached this project I would focus on a more creative theme from the start and play around with more abstract ideas.

The theme I was really going for in this project was good vs evil. I wanted to create a sort of superpower looking effect with the light we used. As well as create a good and evil contrast with the colors I used. The good is a lot brighter and has gentle effects while the evil has a darker feel to both the colors and overall photos.

I chose this theme because I wanted to do a superhero looking gallery but it ended up going in a better direction in my opinion. It was hard to get superhero actions captured in the amount of time given the shutter speed. So I changed my theme mid-shoot to fit the photos much better.
